Still trying to figure this shiz out...

I watched Saw IV again last night and was just thinking of the character connections. I watched with a friend that had never seen Saw IV and he made an interesting comment. He said that he thought they were just continuing the saga by connection every single character to someone else in whatever way. I thought about it and started thinking about all of the connections.

Mind you these also include Saw: Rebirth because it was better than the story of IV and V. I'll try to get all of this down correctly, at least for John and Amanda right now.


John/Jigsaw:
Paul [Razor Wire trap] - Met in rehab hospital in Saw: Rebirth. Showed his capture in Saw V. Died from his trap.

Mark [Flammable Jelly trap] - Met in rehab hospital in Saw: Rebirth. Died from his trap.

Zep [Allison & Diana Gordon trap] - Met in rehab hospital in Saw: Rebirth. Zep was also John's orderly in Saw and obviously knew about John, "he's a very interesting person." Killed by Adam in the bathroom.

Jeff [Screw Chair trap] - Connection unknown. He is, to our knowledge, alive after being saved by Det. Sing. We don't know why he was captured or what other trap, if any, he was to be used for.

Det. Tapp - Direct connection unknown. Killed by Zep.

Det. Sing - Direct connection unknown. Killed by shotgun trap in the Jigsaw lair.

Det. Kerry - Direct connection unknown. Killed by the angel trap supposedly designed by Amanda.

Amanda [Reverse Bear trap] - Met in rehab hospital in Saw: Rebirth. Amanda was there from a drug overdose. Without Rebirth we wouldn't have any clue as to why she was selected by John for the bear trap. We still really don't... Amanda went to become the new apprentice as revealed at the end of Saw II. Killed by Jeff by gunshot after she killed Lynn.

Dr. Gordon [Bathroom trap] - Was the doctor that diagnosed John with cancer. Cut off his foot to escape the bathroom. Status is unknown, but he is assumed dead.

Adam [Bathroom trap] - Direct connection to John is unknown. Killed by Amanda in the bathroom.

Dead Cellmate [Reverse Bear trap] - Direct connection unkown. However, he is seen exiting Jill's drug clinic in Saw IV so that is a potential connection that is still left open. Killed by Amanda.

Det. Matthews - Direct connection unknown. Part of the grand scheme in Saw II. John knew of his shady police work and revealed his connections to those in the house trap. He also placed his son Daniel in the house trap. Killed by Amanda in the original cut of Saw III but officially killed by Rigg in Saw IV.

Sgt. Rigg [Cherish Your Life trap] - Direct connection unkown. Was part of the SWAT raid on Jigsaw's lair before the knowledge of the house trap in Saw II. Placed in the Cherish Your Life trap for his need/want to save everyone. Killed by Det. Matthews.

Daniel [House trap] - Direct connection unkown. Det. Matthews son. Was the only other survivor of the house trap.

Michael [Venus Fly trap] - Direct connection unknown. Was also seen in Jill's drug clinic in Saw IV. Died in the fly trap.

Gus [House trap] - Direct connection unknown. He was another one seen in the drug clinic along with the Dead Cellmate, Michael, and Troy in Saw IV. Died from the shotgun door trap.

Xavier [House trap] - Direct connection unknown. Killed by Daniel.

Addison [House trap] - Approached John at his car window outside of Jill's drug clinic trying to whore herself to him. He told her to go home. Died from the Razor Box trap.

Jonas [House trap] - Direct connection unknown. Killed by Xavier.

Laura [House trap] - Direct connection unknown. Died from the nerve gas.

Obi [House trap] - Direct connection unkown. Is said in his tape that he helped capture the others in the house. He is seen walking past Jill in John's surgery dream in Saw III. Died from the furnace trap.

Lynn [Shotgun Collar trap] - Consulted with John about his cancer and told him there was no treatment for him. Any other connection is unknown. Died from the shotgun collar.

Jeff [Gideon trap] - Direct connection unknown. Killed John by a taking a powersaw to his neck. Killed by Agent Strahm.

Danica [Freezer Room trap] - Direct connection unkown. Died from the freezer room trap.

Judge Halden [Pig Vat trap] - Direct connection unkown. The judge was initially saved by Jeff but he died from the shotgun box during the Rack.

Timothy [The Rack] - Direct connection unkown. Died from the rack.

Troy [Classroom trap] - Direct connection unkown. Died from the classroom trap.

Det. Hoffman - The second apprentice, alongside Amanda, to John. He is a part of the police force that has been chasing Jigsaw since the beginning. He tried to frame John for the Pendulum trap and was put to the test and recruited. He is shown to be involved in the capture of several victims, including Paul and Rigg, and has been involved since Saw. He set up the Gideon building to be the only survivor and failed. He also creates unwinnable traps, such as the Pendulum and the Water Cube. As of Saw V he is still alive.

Jill - John's ex-wife. She first appears to John in a dream during his brain surgery. She is shown to own the drug clinic that so many of John's test subjects were a part of at some point. She is shown being interrogated at nauseum by Hoffman and Strahm. She receives a box with unknown contents as dictated by John's will after he is dead. She tells the FBI that she is being stalked and harrassed by the FBI, specifically Agent Strahm. As of Saw V she is still alive.

Agent Strahm - An FBI agent assigned to the Jigsaw cases. He and his partner Agent Perez are introduced in Saw IV and reveal a connection to Kerry. They said she was their liason. He begins to realize the grand scheme of the Jigsaw murders and begins to suspect Hoffman more than John and Amanda. Direct connection still unknown. Killed by Hoffman.

Agent Perez - An FBI agent assigned to the Jigsaw cases. Partners with Agent Strahm. Direct connection unkown. Died after injuries sustained from the exploding Billy puppet.

Art [Mausoleum trap/Cherish Your Life trap] - Was a business partner and friend of John and Jill. He tried to convince John not to walk away from their housing projects after Jill lost the baby. His profession was a lawyer. Placed into the Mausoleum trap and Rigg's trap in Saw IV for unknown reasons.

Cecil [Knife Chair trap] - Was a regular at John's wife Jill's clinic. He accidentally killed John's unborn son Gideon after attempting to rob the clinic. Was John's first test subject. Assumed to have been killed by John.

Gideon - John and Jill's unborn son. Cecil accidentally killed the baby by slamming a door into Jill's abdomen. John came into the building after seeing Cecil run frantically outside. By the time he got Jill to the hospital it was too late. The child was named after John's first property, the Gideon building. That is the building where the traps in Saw III and Saw IV, and who knows how much more, took place.

Ivan [Hotel trap] - Direct connection unkown. Died from the trap.

Brenda [Hair Pull trap] - Direct connection unkown. Thrown into a glass mirror and presumably killed by Rigg.

Morgan [Main Artery trap] - Direct connection unknown. Pulled the metal rods and let her husband bleed to death. Saved by Rigg in the classroom.

Rex [Main Artety trap] - Direct connection unknown. Killed by Morgan via the trap.

Dr. Heffner - Performed John's autopsy. He found the "Play Me" tape inside of John's stomach.

Tracy - Direct connection unknown. Rigg's wife. As of Saw IV she is presumably alive. Her pictures were in Rigg's test but she never appeared again after leaving to visit her mother.

Agent Erickson - Direct connection unknown. As of Saw V he is still alive.

Brit [Fatal Five] - Direct connection unknown. Found bleeding to death by Erickson after the hand-saw box. She was one of two remaining from the Fatal Five. Her living status is currently unknown but she is presumably alive.

Luba [Fatal Five] - Direct connection unknown. Died from electrocution during the Fatal Five.

Charles [Fatal Five] - Direct connection unknown. Died from a bomb during the Fatal Five.

Mallick [Fatal Five] - Direct connection unknown. He is the other person remaining, alongside Brit, from the Fatal Five. He was also left bleeding to death after the hand-saw box. His living status is currently unknown but he is presumably alive.

Ashley [Fatal Five] - Direct connection unknown. Died from the neck trap at the beginning of the Fatal Five.

Seth [Pendulum Trap] - Seth was used by Hoffman to frame Jigsaw for another murder. Neglecting the fact that John does not murder, he used the pendulum trap as a motive to capture Hoffman and test him. After he passed John recruited Hoffman as a new apprentice.


Amanda:
John - Met in rehab hospital according to Saw: Rebirth. Placed in the Reverse Bear trap by John. Recruited as an apprentice after her questioning. He took her under his wing and is said to be the closest companion to Amanda, like a father/daughter relationship. She cared for him while he was ill, captured victims, and created traps. It is also said that her traps were unwinnable and were just meant to kill people which did not follow John's doctrine. She was placed in the house trap in Saw II to protect Daniel and to make sure the rules were followed. She was ultimately tested in Saw III to see if she had the will to keep someone alive.

Paul - Placed in the same rehab hospital according to Saw: Rebirth. Any other direct connection is unknown.

Mark - Placed in the same rehab hospital according to Saw: Rebirth. Any other direct connection is unknown.

Zep - Placed in the same rehab hospital according to Saw: Rebirth. Any other direct connection is unknown.

Jeff - Direct connection unknown.

Det. Tapp - Was questioned by Tapp after she survived the Bear trap.

Det. Sing - Presumably also was questioned by Sing after her escape.

Det. Kerry - Was said to have placed Kerry in the angel trap that killed her. Strahm differed saying their weight difference contradicted the theory and suggested Amanda had an addtional person helping her. Kerry was also partners with Det. Matthews at some point and was part of the crime division that chased after Jigsaw.

Dr. Gordon - Witnessed her testimony in the police station after his pen light was found at Mark's test. It is also assumed that she captured Dr. Gordon in the parking garage.

Adam - She captured Adam in his apartment by hiding in the closet dressed in the cloak and pig mask. A deleted scene also shows her having a previous encounter with Adam where he flirted with her and took her picture as a memory. She placed Adam in the bathroom, put his leg in the ankle brace, gave him the key in the bathtub, and wound up performing a mercy killing after he was deserted in the room.

Dead Cellmate - She killed him to retrieve the key to release the jaw trap. Any other direct connection is unknown.

Det. Matthews - Was framed for drug posession charges by Det. Matthews resulting in a prison sentence of an unknown length. She reveals in Saw II that she began using heroin while serving her sentence. She blames Matthews for her life being such a mess and captures him at the end of Saw II to place him in the bathroom to rot. He escapes, finds her, brutally beats her, and she escapes. Originally she had killed him after trying to walk away but it was changed so he survives. She also makes it known to John that he learned nothing and was the exact same person before his initial test of sitting and talking with him.

Sgt. Rigg - Direct connection is unknown.

Daniel - Placed in the house trap with him. It was her job in the house trap to protect Daniel throughout the duration so he could be placed in the safe and revealed to his father, Det. Matthews. She reveals to Daniel what his father did to her in a subtle way saying that she started heroin in jail and was arrested for possession. She takes him to the bathroom to hide from Xavier where he defends her by killing Xavier when he comes toward them.

Michael - She is seen during a deleted dream sequence in Saw III designing the Venus Fly trap mask. Any other direct connection is unknown.

Gus - Placed in the house trap with him. Any other direct connection is unknown.

Xavier - Placed in the house trap with him. She was always obviously frightened by him whether it's a previous unknown connection or his intimidating presence. He tossed her into the needle pit, meant for him, and then carried anger toward her for the rest of the movie after failing to open the door after she swam through the needles to find the key. She tried to work with him to find out the combination to the safe with the antidote but he refused and cut his number out of his neck. He went after Amanda and she was protected by Daniel who cut his throat open with a hacksaw.

Addison - Placed in the house trap with her. Any other direct connection is unknown

Jonas - Placed in the house trap with him. Any other direct connection is unknown

Laura - Placed in the house trap with her. Amanda always seemed protective of both Daniel and Laura. She carried Laura around and seemed upset when she fell severely ill to the nerve gas and eventually died in Amanda's lap. Any other direct connection is unknown.

Obi - Placed in the house trap with him. Any other direct connection is unknown.

Lynn - Captured Lynn from the hospital locker room dressed in the cloak and pig mask. She was very untrusting of Lynn and didn't understand why John picked her to be a part of this test. She was also left in the dark about Lynn's marriage to Jeff. Amanda grew jealous and angry toward Lynn when John seemed to be paying more attention to her resulting in her cutting scene. She revolted against John by refusing to remove the shotgun collar and shooting Lynn in the abdomen.

Jeff - Amanda was shot in the neck by Jeff after she shoots Lynn. John reveals their marriage to her just seconds before Jeff pulls the trigger. She bleeds to death from the injury. Any other direct connection is unknown.

Danica - Direct connection is unknown.

Judge Halden - Direct connection is unknown.

Timothy - Direct connection is unknown.

Troy - It is said that Troy's classroom trap was one of Amanda's unwinnable designs. Any other direct connection is unknown.

Det. Hoffman - Hoffman is the other apprentice working with Jigsaw alongside Amanda. Their relationship is still pretty unknown. It can be safely assumed that she was set up by Hoffman in the Gideon building to fail her test. It is also possible that her unwinnable traps were designed by Hoffman and not by her. He also is shown writing the letter that upset her so much just before she revolts against John and shoots Lynn. It has been semi-revealed that we will find out a lot more about the Hoffman/Amanda relationship in Saw VI.

Jill - There isn't much of anything known about Jill and Amanda's relationship. It is possible that they knew each other but we don't know for sure. John's surgery vision of Jill where he deliriously mistakes Lynn for Jill made Amanda angry and jealous. It is theorized that Amanda could have been another person connected to Jill's drug clinic, but that is just a theory. Any other direct connection is still unknown. This is another relationship that we will hopefully learn more about in Saw VI.

Agent Strahm - Holds the theory that Amanda couldn't have set up her traps alone, specifically Kerry's angel trap. Any other direct connection is unknown.

Agent Perez - Direct connection is unknown.

Art - Direct connection is unknown.

Cecil - Direct connection is unknown.

Gideon - Other than living in the Gideon building with John and aiding him with his illness, a direct connection to Gideon is unknown.

Ivan - Direct connection is unknown.

Brenda - Direct connection is unknown.

Morgan - Direct connection is unknown.

Rex - Direct connection is unknown.

Dr. Heffner - Direct connection is unknown.
